My Journey ... My Evolution ...

My first childhood memories are those of the initial lessons in Tabla [the Indian percussion instrument] under the tutelage of my Guru Mr. Benny Satamkar, at the age of 10 and later under the able guidance of Mr. David Satamkar and subsequently his son Mr. Rafi Satamkar. I went on to complete my advanced learning in Tabla to the level of "Madhyama Purna" (4th grade). The musical journey took a fresh turn when at the age of 18, I started learning Mandolin under the wings of my eldest brother Mr. Jayantilal Gosher (a renowned film musician of India) and later Mr. Benny Satamkar. My piano lessons started under Mr.Rammohan Rao much later. As I went on to become the life time member of CMA[Cine Musicians' association].

21st March 1985 was the day when I took a new plunge by joining the Line-in Studio in Mumbai and started learning the Analogue Sound Recording under Mr. Ashish Dixit. Later, I went on to work there professionally as a Recording Engineer for nearly five years. The scope of this vocation gave me an invaluable opportunity of working with the top musicians, arrangers and music directors of India. It offered me a perfect platform to learn varied methods of working as suited to different genres of music - right from the inception to the final product.

The day of 1st January 1990 will be remembered for my venturing into a yet fresh territory - I got my first assignment as Rhythm Programmer with none other than the great ghazal maestro Mr. Jagjit Singh and then there was no looking back! I acknowledged my calling and the stream found its course. Thenceforth followed a very successful career spanning over a period of two decades where I have worked with almost all the celebrated names in Indian Film Music, viz. R. D. Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Vishal Bharadwaj, Nadeem Shravan, Rajesh Roshan, Usha Khanna, Himesh Reshammiya, Viju Shah, Naresh Sharma, S. Sodhi, Ashok Patki, Rahul Ranade, Nikhil Vinay, Jaidev and Anjan Biswas to name a few.

I have lived through an entire revolution of the modern electronic music technology from Dedicated Hardware Machines (DHM) to Digital Audio Workstations (DAW). My arsenal in the era of DHM was made predominantly of Roland TR 707 &TR 727, S-700 series samplers, R-8, Octapad , SPD-8, S-5080 and MC-50, Yamaha RX-5, EMU SP-1200, EXS-24, Procussion, Akai S-6000 and MPC-2000, Alesis D-4, Peavey Sampler and Player. Keeping with the times, I moved on to the present culture of DAW with my present gear of LOGIC 9.1.8 on Apple iMac with MOTU 828 mark 2 & 3 audio interfaces, MTPAV, Mackie mixer, AKG & Shure microphones,Axion 61 MIDI keyboard and Genelac 8040 monitors.

In this satisfactory career of a devoted lifetime, I have composed, played live and programmed electronic rhythm tracks for countless Indian Film Songs encompassing the whole gamut of emotions and moods, Original Background Scores, Promos, Music Albums of diverse genres like Pop, Punjabi, Romantic, Bengali Pooja Songs, Gujarati Dandiya Raas, Marathi and Koli Folk Songs in addition to innumerable Jingles, Documentaries, Ghazals, DJ Remixes, Theater Music, Title Songs for TV serials etc.

My proficiency as a sound recording engineer took a new dimension when I got the opportunity to accompany Mr. R. D. Burman, and later Mr. Viju Shah, as a Sound Engineer for nearly fifty Live Shows during their global music tours, featuring Bollywood mega stars Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi etc.

Settled on such a solid foundation and armed with this thorough background and wide experience, now I undertake the task of Complete Music Production with all its constituents, viz. Music Composing, Arrangement, Programming, Live Dubbings to the Final Mixing of the Songs and Original Background Score premixes.

I owe a debt of thanks to all those amazing stalwarts who graced me with such a wonderful platform to be a part of their celebrated music and who always inspired me, at times even without their knowledge, to reach where I am today. I also thank all those who were beside me to witness many brilliant unforgettable moments during the course of my long musical journey.

With a heart overflowing with gratitude, I want to give special credit for all my achievements, for whatever they are, to my eldest brother Shree Jayantilal Gosher who has been more a lifetime Guru to me, my hero, inspiration and the unfailing answer to all my questions.

And last but not the least; I steal this moment to humbly remember my father Shree Rayshi Gosher for giving me opportunity, exposure, confidence, maturity and everything that I have today and for his eternal blessings for the success and prosperity at every stage of my life.
